Population and dissenters: There are, as near as I can guess, between 45 & 50 Families in my Parish. There is not one Dissenter of any Denomination, nor any Meeting House of Dissenters, in my Parish.
Public or charity schools: There is no Publick Endow'd Charity School in my Parish. But there is a Legacy of £4 10s 0d per annum given by one Mr Thos Wear, for the teaching Six Poor Children of my Parish to read, & for buying them Books till they shall arrive to ye Age of nine years; which Children are to be nominated by ye Minister & Churchwardens for ye time being. The Children are duly taught according to ye Donors Will, instructed in ye Principles of ye Christian Religion, & duly brought to Church.
Alms-house, hospital or charitable endowment: There is no Alms-house, Hospital, nor other Charitable Endowment in my Parish. There is a House, built & maintain'd by ye Parish, in which some Poor People are permitted to live, who are not capable of paying Rent for Houses Themselves. There have been no Lands, nor Tenements left for the Repair of our Church, nor for any other pious Use, as far as I can learn.
Residence upon cure: From ye time when my Good Friend Mr Chancellor Fursman was pleas'd to give me ye Cure of Clist=Honiton, I resided personally; tho' I have no proper House there to reside in, only a little Cottage, which was always, & still is set for 40 Shillings per annum and I was forc'd to rent a House for that Purpose. But when it pleas'd to desire me, with ye Bishop's & Chapter's leave, to live with Him as a Friend, in his lonely Circumstances; as I still do with your Lordship's leave. Notwithstanding which in this my Situation, 'tis known, I have Ever, & still do & shall as Constantly & Punctually attend all ye Duties of my Cure, as if I was Personally resident; not only on Sundays & other Festivals, but in visiting the Sick from Day to Day, as there is occasion. And this I am able to do with ye Greatest Ease, ye Distance being less than Four Miles.
Frequency of divine service: Divine Service is perform'd in my Church Every Lords Day with a Sermon in ye Morning & Afternoon; except in Lent, when instead of a Sermon in ye Afternoon, I expound on ye Church Catechism.
Frequency of communion: The Holy Sacrament of ye Lord's Supper is administred in my Church 4 Times a year, viz. at Christmas, Easter, Whitsunday, & Michaelmas.
Number of communicants: I believe there are about 90 or 100, who are of Age, & capable of communicating, of which number between 40 & 50 generally communicate at each of ye four Seasons. About 40 communicated last Easter, not so many as I generally have had.
Catechising of children: The Children of my Parish are Catechiz'd in my church every Sunday during Lent in ye Afternoon. My Parishioners send their Children & Servants to be instructed Duly.
